The paper aims to investigate the airflow dynamics of electric-arc spraying (EAS) with pulsation. study is focused on dynamic structure an obstacle in form crossed electrodes at steady and pulsating air supply (with a frequency up 120 Hz). work was fulfilled using computer simulation, “shadow” photo visualization, microstructure characterization coatings formed. It found that when flows along gap 2 mm, depression zone appears flow pressure drop from 0.56 MPa 0.01 MPa. pulsation resulted change flow’s towards increase length zone, which covers most arc, affecting liquid metal oxidation. established droplet formation should match minimize With about 65 Hz, oxide volume fraction aluminum coating reduced by 3.6 times compared airflow. EAS has potential for technological cost reduction.
